Blanket Technologies: Capturing Heritage Textile Techniques

Led by Professor Judith Mottram, this project explored colour and pattern, approaches to recording skills and knowledge at risk, and cultural memory through heritage textile technologies.

The resulting exhibition Pattern / Patrwn , curated by Sandra Kemp (26 September–20 December 2019/ 5 March–20 December 2020) was a series of displays of Welsh Blankets in The Ruskin from the collection of Jane Beck, and provided a backdrop to reconsidering the role of regional identity, tourism and functionality attributed to high value textiles.
