Dr Sophie Thérèse Ambler
Dr Sophie Thérèse Ambler is a Research Theme Lead at The Ruskin and Reader in Medieval History at Lancaster University. A Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London, she holds a Philip Leverhulme Prize in History (2020) and has been a Visiting Fellow at All Souls College, Oxford. Co-Director of the Regional Heritage Centre at Lancaster, she also works with third-sector organisations committed to preserving, researching, and bringing new audiences to heritage sites. She combines her archival expertise and regional and heritage interests at The Ruskin, developing research on John Ruskin’s medieval collections, from medieval manuscripts to lecture diagrams, writings, daguerreotypes, drawings and paintings engaging with medieval culture.
