Explore Lifelong Learning invites The Ruskin to present

19 May 2025

The Ruskin are presenting to Explore Lifelong Learning in Newcastle on 19 May 2025, introducing the group to John Ruskin, the Collection, and a deep-dive into daguerreotypes. In addition, The Ruskin VR and AR experiences are going to be tested by attendees.

The VR experiences include:

  • a virtual gallery with a selection of Ruskin’s works on display, with audio providing context to the gallery space and text labels accompanying each of the works,
  • an interactive sketchbook, in which users are immersed into a virtual sketchbook where they can interact with different elements of Ruskin’s works (e.g. shells, trees, and clouds) through multiple pages of the book,
  • and the virtual cyanometer (a tool to measure the shade of blue) where different skies (Lancaster University, Brantwood, and Sunway University) are provided for the user to measure the shade of blue by rotating the cyanometer.
