Marcel Proust y las artes
(Proust & the Arts)
4 March 2025 – 8 June 2025
A gallery of this exhibition on ‘Marcel Proust y las artes’ (‘Marcel Proust and the Arts’), explores Proust’s fascination for Ruskin, and in particular the pivotal aesthetic and architectural experience of visiting Gothic Cathedrals guided by the writings of the French architectural historian Émile Male, and John Ruskin. Working with curators Fernando Checa and Dolores Delgado, The Ruskin contributed to curation of a dedicated Ruskin gallery within the exhibition, which included drawings of Amiens Cathedral and St Wulfran’s Church, his painting Zipporah ‘One of the daughters of Jethro’ (after Botticelli) and a copy of his book, ‘The Bible of Amiens’. The gallery also included works by Paul-César Helleu, Eugène Boudin, Alfred Sisley, Gustave Loiseau, Armand Guillaumin and Jean-Baptise-Camille Corot depicting churches and cathedrals.
