Preraffaelliti. Rinascimenro Moderno
(Pre-Raphaelites: A Modern Renaissance)
San Domenico Museums, Forli, Italy
23 February – 30 June 2024
This exhibition, sponsored by The Fondazione Cassa dei Risparmi di Forlì and co-curated by Elizabeth Prettejohn, Peter Trippi, Cristina Acidini, and Francesco Parisi, explored the significant influence of Italian art of the fourteenth to sixteenth centuries on the British Pre-Raphaelite movement, and on English artists and craftsmen more generally, between the 1840s and the 1920s. More than 350 works from international collections – ranging from paintings, photography and sculpture to glass, textiles and jewellery – included a gallery dedicated to works on loan from The Ruskin. Ruskin was a champion of the Pre-Raphaelites, who were inspired by his writings, and a passionate preserver of Italian art and architecture.
